AI is everywhere. Machine learning, the underlying technology, has been transforming our world for years, with its impact growing exponentially. By 2017, the profound implications of this transformation were impossible to ignore. That's when my colleagues and I at EPFL decided it was time to create a platform for open discussion and learning about AI's growing influence. That's how Applied Machine Learning Days (AMLD) was born.
AMLD was always meant to bring people together. Unlike typical tech events, AMLD gathers industry leaders, scientists, policymakers, and researchers. This mix creates rich discussions, innovative ideas, and new collaborations. That's always been the heart of AMLD.
As our focus expands beyond machine learning, we are evolving AMLD into the AMLD Intelligence Summit. This new name reflects our commitment to exploring artificial intelligence, human intelligence, and big global challenges like energy, health, and robotics.
A proud milestone for us was launching AMLD Africa in 2020. Driven by EPFL students and alumni, AMLD Africa aims to leverage AI for positive change across the continent. Their initiative embodies exactly why we started AMLD.
Seeing AMLD grow into the AMLD Intelligence Summit - the largest annual conference at EPFL, led by the EPFL AI Center - is truly exciting. I'm deeply optimistic about the future and the conversations and ideas this event will continue to inspire.
