Dr. Carlos Ciller is CEO and co-founder of RetinAI, a Swiss startup developing software to accelerate and support clinical and pharmaceutical research workflows. He holds a degree in Telecommunications Engineering and a PhD in Machine Learning and Medical Imaging in Ophthalmology from the University of Lausanne (CHUV-CIBM), the EPFL and the University of Bern in Switzerland. Between 2015-2016 he was a visiting researcher at the Biomedical Image Analysis group, at the Department of Computing of Imperial College London, UK, as a recipient of a Swiss grant for PhD Mobility.

Prior to his PhD, Carlos worked for several years as a research engineer and project manager in healthcare projects. He was president of Innovation Forum Imperial College London and member of the Board of Directors of multiple for and non-for profit organisations. Carlos is author and co-author of dozens of conference papers, book chapters and peer-reviewed journals in the field of artificial intelligence, machine learning, medical imaging and ophthalmology.
