Touradj Ebrahimi is a professor at EPFL and head of its multimedia signal processing group. Since 2014, is Convenor (Chairman) of the JPEG standardisation committee under auspices of ISO, IEC and ITU. His research activities include compression of visual information, media security and assessment of quality of experience in multimedia. He is a Fellow of IEEE and SPIE and was recently awarded the IEEE Star Innovator Award in Multimedia, On behalf of JPEG, he has been recipient of a Primetime Emmy Engineering Award bestowed by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences.
