Claude Formanek is 24 years old and lives in Cape Town South Africa. He completed a undergraduate degree (B.Sc.) in Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Cape Town (UCT) in 2019. In 2020, he completed his B.Sc. Hons. In Applied Computational Mathematics at UCT. Claude did two research projects in his Honours year, one on Deep Reinforcement Learning and another on Graph Neural Networks. He was awarded first class grades for both projects. In 2021 Claude enrolled for a M.Sc. In Applied Computational Mathematics at UCT. His supervisor is Dr. Jonathan Shock and his research is on Offline Multi-Agent Reinforcement Learning. Concurrently Claude is also doing a full-year internship at InstaDeep ltd. Claude is a research intern working in the Cape Town based InstaDeep research team. The Cape Town team is led by Dr. Arnu Pretorius and primarily focuses on research in Multi-Agent Reinforcement Learning (MARL). In June 2021 the Cape Town team released an open-source framework for MARL called Mava which they have been developing since the start of the year.
