Alison Michan is a data scientist at the Bühler EPFL Innovation Satellite. She applies machine learning techniques to optimize production processes and build smarter machines. Bühler AG is a technology company building plants, equipment and related services for processing food and manufacturing of advanced materials. She has a background in engineering physics and holds a PhD in physical chemistry from the University of Cambridge where she investigated ageing mechanisms of silicon electrodes for lithium ion batteries. She has several years of experience working in technical and commercial roles in technology companies and previously worked on lithium ion battery state-of-health classification algorithms for mobile phone batteries.
