Dr. Clementi received her PhD in Physics from the International School of Advanced Studies in Trieste, Italy in 1998 and worked as a postdoctoral researcher at University of California San Diego until  2001 when she joined the faculty at Rice University in Houston, Texas, where she is now Professor of Chemistry, Physics, and Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering.  She is the recipient of the 2009 Welch Foundation Norman Hackerman award in Chemical Research.
