Portrait image of Kristina Orehounig

Kristina Orehounig is the head of the Laboratory of Urban Energy Systems at Empa (Swiss Federal Laboratories for Materials Science and Technology). She is also lecturing at the Department of Architecture at ETH Zurich, Switzerland. Her research interests include the development of sustainable concepts in building design and operation, the integration of renewable energy systems, and the simulation and optimization of buildings and urban energy systems. Together with her team, she is developing modelling strategies in relation to multi-energy systems starting from the building to the district up to higher scales. She received her PhD degree from the Technical University of Vienna, Austria.
