Highly dynamical processes such as laser processing, tribology (interacting surfaces in relative motion) & fracture mechanics are very difficult to monitor and control.In this presentation, depending on the time given, we will present several examples in these fields on the use of ML for quality monitoring and control.1) Example 1: prediction of scuffing (one of the most frightening failure mechanisms in tribology)2) Example 2: prediction of crack growth 3) Example 3: quality monitoring of laser welding and additive manufacturing4) Example 4: control of laser processes to avoid defect.
