Portrait image of Gunther Jansen

Gunther is a computational geneticist and tumor biology expert, and leads a global data science team in late stage drug development focused on personalizing healthcare through the application of multimodality approaches, i.e, creating high-resolution patient-level insights through the integrated analysis of distinct data types such as clinical trial and/or real-world EHR/claims, -omics, digital pathology and clinical imaging data using advanced analytics (“AI”)  technologies. This fine-grained and deep understanding of individual patients, their disease and disease trajectories is used to inform our late-stage development programs and enables reverse translation to early stage.

Gunther holds a PhD in Genetics from the University of Helsinki in Finland, a MSc in Biology and a MaM in Philosophy of Science from the University of Ghent in Belgium. Before joining Roche, he worked in a company developing treatment decision support software for oncology and held several academic posts.
