Vincent Lenders is the founding Director of the Cyber-Defence Campus and the head of the Cyber Security and Data Science Department at armasuisse Science and Technology. He is also the co-founder and chairman of the executive boards of the OpenSky Network and Electrosense associations.
He holds a Ph.D (2006) and a Master's (2001) degree in electrical engineering and information technology both from ETH Zürich. He was also postdoctoral research faculty in 2007 at Princeton University in the USA.
Vincent Lenders' interests lay at the intersection between cyber security, data science, networking, and crowdsourcing. He has a particular focus on system-oriented research and the transfer of research results to real-world solutions. His work is documented in more than 140 internationally peer-reviewed research publications and has been implemented in various operational systems at the Swiss Armed Forces. He has received best paper awards at IEEE WONS 2012, DFRWS EU 2015, ACM CPSS 2015, DASC 2015, and ACM CPSS 2021, and the Security Award in 2011 from the Swiss Federal Department of Defense DDPS. He is a member of IEEE, ACM, and the expert Jury of the Swiss Economic Forum. He holds various security professional and auditor certifications including CISA, CISM, CRISC (ISACA) and CISSP (ISC2).
Troughout his career, he has been dedicated to the education of young talents in cyber security and engineering. He was industrial director at the Zurich Information Security and Privacy Center (ZISC) at ETH Zurich from 2012 to 2016 and has served as scientific advisor and mentor of more than fifty Master/PhD students from various universities around the world including ETH Zurich, EPFL, University of Oxford, Princeton University, TU Kaiserslautern, KU Leuven, and others. Since 2020, he serves as the chair of the Swiss Cyberdefence Fellowship program.
