Artificial Intelligence is leading towards increasingly autonomous and intelligent networks, improving customer experience, and generating significant economic impact. However, networks are highly complex, distributed and composed of very different environments. On the one hand, AI can significantly help in the design and management of such complex ecosystem. On the other hand, the usage of AI can raise privacy and security concerns. In this talk we will describe experiences on AI-based techniques in large technology companies and in research, what has been shown and what still needs to be done to get the full benefits of AI for networks. We will then describe approaches like Federated Learning and Privacy Preserving Mechanisms to deal with emerging privacy/security concerns while enabling the full benefits AI.
