Michael K. Papamichael is a Researcher in the Silicon System Futures group at Microsoft working on the Catapult and BrainWave projects. Catapult is the technology behind Microsoft’s hyperscale acceleration fabric that uses reconfigurable logic to enable hardware microservices and accelerate both network plane functions and applications. BrainWave is Microsoft’s deep learning acceleration platform that leverages Catapult for serving state-of-the-art, pre-trained DNN models and is used in production services for Bing and Azure. Michael's broader research interests are in the area of computer architecture with emphasis on hardware acceleration, reconfigurable computing, on-chip interconnects, and methodologies to facilitate hardware specialization. He holds a PhD in Computer Science from Carnegie Mellon University.
