Assuming no background in topology, I will provide a brief overview of activity at the rapidly growing interface of machine learning and algebraic topology. I will sketch examples of both how machine learning can boost the performance of topological data analysis and how topology can improve interpretability of machine learning and lead to new ideas for machine learning tools.
