The workshop entitled “Towards ethical AI – practical tools for responsible data scientists” offers participants a set of practical tools on how to face ethical challenges linked to machine learning techniques.
Participants will learn how to identify ethical risks of a concrete application and which methods can be used to address them, both from the perspective of data sciences and applied ethics.
The workshop is based on a real-life case-study. This case-study is the product of a cooperation of the hosts of this workshop with a big telecom company in the domain of HR. This case-study will offer the opportunity to present and discuss a step-by-step approach to ethical challenges in data projects.
Through the workshop, participants will gain a better understanding of the ethical challenges linked to developing and deploying data-based tools. They will learn practical tools on how to tackle these challenges, navigating different levels of reflections. Starting from data quality checks to the integration of ML-based applications in existing decision-making procedures, participants will apply their knowledge on a real-life case. At the end of the workshop, participants will have acquired practical skills to navigate ethical challenges in data-based tools.
Beginner level
Participants are not required to have specific knowledge. Most importantly, they should be interested in a multidisciplinary dialogue with ethicists and other data scientists.
